Written Directions

Starting in Sicamous on Hwy 1 and Hwy 97A. Head south on 97a to Grindrod. (Cool biker Pub on the water) Continue through Enderby and Armstrong. You can take any of the back roads on either side of hwy 97A. All are paved and all circle back to hwy 97A. 15 min south of Armstrong take hwy 97 to Falkland (another great biker pub). From Pub, take Chase Falkland Rd to Chase. Great windy twisty road, pass by Hoodoos and several lakes. About 7km in not paved but the best hard packed road I've every been on. Turn right on Hwy 1. Follow the Shuswap Lake through Sorrento, Salmon Arm back to Sicamous.

Scenery

Most of this circle route follows the many arms of the Shuswap Lake and Mara Lake. You'll be riding the valleys between the mountains with spectacular views. Many an animal to be seen from bears, mtn goats and sheep, deer, elk, moose and bald eagles. All small towns have food and fuel. For more scenery, take any of the paved roads that follow the many arms of the lakes. More windy, twisties, water falls, camp grounds, lake & mountain views and mountain views.

Drive Enjoyment

Hwy 97 & 97A can get busy in summer months, so take any of the back roads. All paved, all scenic, windy and twisty and all narrow one lane each way around lakes and through mountains. Too many different options of side roads to mention. Good pavement no matter which one you take.

Tourism Opportunities

On Hwy 97A, visit Grindrod Pub (sunday brunch or lunch every day) 30 min south of Sicamous, get ice cream in Enderby. Armstrong is know for it's cheese at the Armstrong Cheese Factory. Falkland Pub is worth a visit. See where a 10 ft long tire skid mark was left on the hardwood floor. On Chase- Falkland Rd, stop to see the Hoodoos at Pillar Lake and the Turtle Valley Donkey Refuge (15 min on good hard pack gravel rd) Hwy 1 btw Sorrento and Salmon Arm be sure to check out the Dreamcycle Motorcycle Museum. They serve an awesome breakfast and lunch. This is my "backyard" so contact me to join a day ride when your in the area. srbookkeeping@outlook.com

Great day ride from Vernon or any of the other towns on the route. D Dutchman dairy on the East side of Sicamous has the best Ice cream you will find anywhere. Dreamcycle motorcycle museum at Sorento is a must see at least once. Not far from there to the SE is Margaret Falls at Herald Provincial Park which is a lovely place to stop for a short hike to the falls. Near Enderby is a great, quirky, tool museum, Deep Creek Tool Museum. Get there off Hwy 97B on Deep Creek Road.

Though I haven't tied all pieces of this route together, I have ridden them all with the exception of the Loakin-Bear Creek road on the north. The OP is right, it can get busy in the summer on Hwy 97 and Hwy 1. The highly touted Eagle Bay Rd from Sorrento to Eagle Bay was so crowded with cars, trailers, people and driveways that it was hard to enjoy.
