Written Directions
You can find this road two ways, either heading north out of Lyle, WA on Canyon Road or South out of Glenwood on Lakeside Road and Fisher Hill Road. Starting in Lyle you will turn north on Canyon Road on the west side of the Klickitat River. In about two miles make sure you turn right to stay on Canyon Road. From here the road rises and twists as you work your way up to the forests and rural residences. Sweeping corners, limited traffic, and occasional wildlife make this short little jaunt a fun distraction. Along the way you can head east on Appleton Road and end up back at the Klickitat River to head either north to Klickitat or south back to Lyle. When you get to Lakeside Road near Glenwood you can turn left and head back to BZ Corners another small route I take often or turn right to make it to Glenwood. After you get to Glenwood its either east to Goldendale or west to Trout Lake or BZ Corners.
Scenery
Nice views of the surrounding mountains and forests as well as great views of Mt Adams. I have seen plenty of wildlife along the way so be careful coming up on our furry friends. Don't miss the Sasquatch in Glenwood which is always good for a photo op.
Drive Enjoyment
As of summer of 2023 this road is in good shape with no surprises or potholes. Ride has some great corners and winds among the forest and hobby farms as you head away from Lyle and through the dense forests. I especially like the winding road that takes you up out of the Columbia River Gorge out of Lyle.
Tourism Opportunities
Not much in the way of tourism on this ride but I do not come here for the souvenirs. Lyle has a grocery store and cafe, while Glenwood has two stores and a hamburger truck (seasonal). Gas up before you head north or you will pay the price to fill up in Glenwood or Trout Lake.
