Written Directions

Start at the Beach and Picnic Area in Badin, North Carolina. Take 740 North to Baldwin Road. Baldwin Road will "T" at Highway 8, take a right turn and stay on Highway when it becomes Highway 49. Take a Scenic Break at Lookout of Tuckertown Dam and the Pee Dee River. On the other side of the river, turn right on Blaine Road, which follows along the Edge of Badin Lake. You will have a slight job on Badin Lake Road to get back on Blaine Road. There are some nice areas to pull off and enjoys views of Badin Lake. When Blaine Road ends, take Highway 109 South. Along the way you can stop for food and fuel at the Eldorado Outpost, or push on to have fill your stomach at Bigfoots. Bigfoots Bar and Grill also marks the next turn, veer right onto River Road. Where it meets Highway 24/27 is another chance for gas. Take 24/27 West to Valley Road and turn right. You don't have to, but I would take a detour and head up to the vista at Morrow Mountain State Park. Return to Valley Road, turn right and head back into the town of Badin. Finish your trip at the 1913 Badin Inn.

Scenery

Lots of views of the Pee Dee River, Badin Lake and Lake Tillery. Also includes a mountain climb at Morrow Mountain State Park.

Drive Enjoyment

Pavement is usually in great shape, not much traffic and plenty of different kinds of corners, even a hairpin turn in Morrow Mountain.

Tourism Opportunities

This goes through Uwharrie National Forest, so if your prepare to do some activities like camping, this is a beautiful area for it.

Motorcycle Road Additional info
