Scenery
Starts outside the Rocky Mountains, taking you up a deep valley past beautiful mountain homes and large fields.

Lots of sweeping and sharp turns into the mountains with nice curves to keep you entertained the whole way. The pavement is in decent condition but there is usually some loose gravel on the road so be careful.
Tourism Opportunities
Chatfield park is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon and Evergreen has some nice bars and restaurants. There are not many amenities along the way other than a few places to pull off and stretch.
While I enjoy taking this route from time to time, I would not call it stellar. My advice would be take the route starting at Chatfield earlier in the day to avoid slower traffic, then stop for coffee at the Muddy Buck, or perhaps breakfast at Wildflower Cafe both in old Evergreen. Watch for wildlife at all times (two close calls last trip alone) and as stated in the primary description, sand and rock accumulate, generally in the center of the lanes all times of year.
