Written DirectionsGet to Coldwater, which is about 140 kms north of Toronto. Take Upper Chute Road (CR 17) north. This travels 40 kms, through
SceneryThis is part of Ontario cottage country. Many lakes, rivers and streams. Gorgeous forests.
Drive EnjoymentThe twisty section is north of Severn Falls. Parts of the road are coarse and bumpy, but still well worth the visit.
Tourism OpportunitiesThis is rated 4 stars because of the Big Chute Marine Railway. This is a must-see if you're in the area. It works on an inclined plane to carry boats in individual cradles over a change of height of about 60 feet (18 m). It is the only marine railway (or canal inclined plane) of its kind in North America still in use today. Other nice visits include Coldwater and Severn Falls.
