Written Directions

This route travels northwest through SE Manitoba. The eastern terminus is Whiteshell. This is found just west of the Ontario border, at the junction of Provincial Trunk Hwy 44 and the TransCanada Highway (#1). The western terminus is 84 kms from Whiteshell, and is located at the junction of Provincial Trunk Hwy 44 and Provincial Trunk Hwy 11.

Scenery

Hwy 44 starts at Whiteshell and heads west threading through the bedrock and then straightens out when it transitions to the praires.

Drive Enjoyment

Fun road to travel with lots of twisties and hills.

Tourism Opportunities

Lovely, somewhat desolate terrain. Not a lot of amenities. However, in mid-route in Whiteshell Provincial Park. It is a short walk south of the road. This 2,700 square km park is a four-season park where nature sets the stage for an outdoor experience as civilized, or as wild as you choose; where a meteorite lake welcomes swimmers and scuba divers; and where children's days are easily filled at one of nature's great playgrounds
