Written Directions

Holly Spring MS is about 30 from Memphis. From Holly Springs, go East on Marianna Rd., South on Smith Grove Rd., Right Hwy 4, short distance to Lewis Hill Rd., Left going East on Wilkins Chapel Rd., Old Hwy 7 (BP Station) is where you enter the Potts Camp Loop. You will come out in the general area on old Hwy 7. From the Gas Station (at Hwy 7 and Old Hwy7) take Old Hwy 7 to Waterford St, left and left onto Potts Camp Rd...Weee. Fun riding. Ride to Hwy 349, Go South, until Bethlehr Rd (Cemetery). Easy to miss so GPS a big help. Go right on Bethlehr Rd and follow back to Old Hwy 7. Take Wilson Golden Rd., then go South on Lewis Hill Rd to Hwy 310. Then take left (South) on Riales Rd, to Hayes Crossing Rd, Simon Chapel Rd, Fredonia Rd. Union Rd to Hwy 315 to Sardis Dam. You ride atop the Sardis dam. There is a camping ground there that looked real nice. If you want to hop on I-55 and go North to Memphis or South fast on the way home you can do that. I-55 is about 6 miles away on Highway 35 going West.

Scenery

This is fairly flat land with rolling hills, so there are no sweeping vistas, except when you get on top of the dam and look at Sardis Lake. The locals wave back as you drive by.

Drive Enjoyment

The roads are excellent, well marked, good surface and the turns have "camber". The roads are plenty twisty and not too challenging for newer riders. Just don't ride over your head.

Tourism Opportunities

They are adequate. I stopped at the BP on old Highway 7 and got a BBQ sandwich that was amazing! Very large portion and high quality. At the dam is the Pier Restaurant is well rated. It was closed when I was there. There is a rest area on top of the Dam at the Hwy 315 and Hwy 35 junction. Good place to rally your troops.

Motorcycle Road Additional info

It is about 80 miles and you can go back the same way, cutting off some corners and loops or go back on I-55 if you are coming from the Memphis area.

Cindy and I took this route in Sunday, 1 June 2014. The road surface condition must have seriously degraded since the initial ride. Majority of them have ripples. Much of the first half riding at less than 30mph. My opinion road condition is one star.
