Written DirectionsRoute starts in San Angelo. Head to Cristoval on US Highway 277. Dump off on 2084 and ride it all the way southeast to US Highway 190. Turn left on US Highway 190 and look for the sign to Ft. McKavett. Turn right and follow it back for 6 miles to the Fort. Return same route. Be advised, NO FUEL STATIONS. We refueled in Menard and then backtracked.
SceneryBroad horizon views. Many ranches with ridges and assorted greenery. Big sky.
Drive EnjoymentRoad condition is as good as it gets. Flat and few bad spots on entire route. Few twists and turns and a lot of straightaways with miles of vision to really open it up.
Tourism OpportunitiesFort McKavett is the end of the route. Awesome ruins and restored building. Very friendly staff. $4 cover charge per person. Worth a look for sure!
Motorcycle Road Additional infoNO FUEL after Cristoval. Refuel in Menard. Other routes available to return to San Angelo from there.
