Written Directions

Start just north of Benton, TN to TN-30 E, turn left onto TN-315 N, and then a right on TN-39 E. Tellico Plains, is on TN-68 E.

Scenery

We road this route only in late June 2014, by accident, we missed our turn so re-routed to follow this ride. As so as you turn on TN-30 E, you head into a wooded area that last for most of the ride. It is a canopy ride with trees hanging over the road and some of the road is wet due to no sun reaching the road. The route takes you beside the Hiwassee River, and you have great views of the river, some pull offs are available to take pictures. When you get to TN-315, turn left onto a bridge that will cross the river, we arrived around 9 am, and fog still covered the river and is a picture. There are no real obstacles on the road, but we did see loose gravel by some driveways that can be tricky. Overall this was a very scenic ride that was surprising to find.

Drive Enjoyment

95%, of the road is clear with loose gravel on near entrances to homes.

Tourism Opportunities

Nothing but homes between Benton and Tellico Plains, however, if you are locals, I think there might be something just off the route we took.

Very nice ride along the Hiwasee river. The Old Texaco Station at the junction of 30 and 315 is a great sight to visit been in operational condition since 1936. Then the ride down 315 is nice starts in the Mountains and runs down into the valley. End up in Tellico Plains where you can stop for a beer or continue on to The Cherohala Skyway. I extended my ride by starting on U.S. 11 to Calhoun Then took 165 to Hwy 411 then to 30 and on. About a 100 mile ride. Very nice.
