Written Directions

Start in Central City, Kentucky, and head south on US431 to the little town of Dunmor. Just south of the Dollar General is the turn to the west onto KY973. Along that road you will find Lake Malone State Park, a man-made lake and campground with some interesting sculptures. To proceed from the park, continue west on KY973 until it intersects KY181. Head north into Greenville and take US62 back into Central City.

Scenery

You are driving in Kentucky, which means windy and hilly roads. It is forested and farmland, but the fun is also exploring the park to see the larger-than-life "Twigs" installations. The road from the park continues that roller coaster and curvy ride to KY181. Although KY181 is slightly a straighter road, it still is typical of the area. Once in Greenville, you can catch US62 back into Central City.

Drive Enjoyment

The roads are secondary two-laned roads that are well maintained. The road surface is in pretty good condition. The curves are more sweeps than twisties, but still enjoyable as you roll up and down the hills of southern Kentucky

Tourism Opportunities

Central City and Greenville and larger towns with several amenities. The park itself is pretty primitive. There was construction on site of what might become a bathhouse and/or swimming pool, but there are several hiking trails and a boat launch for fishing on the lake. Otherwise you are in countryside with hills, forests, farms, and curves and pass through some small towns with nothing but houses.
