Head west out of Bedford on SR158. SR450 begins on the left about 1/10 of a mile after crossing SR37. The road is hilly with sweeping curves but there some tight turns so keep your eyes open. At Williams stop at the dam for a stretch. This old hydroelectric dam quit producing electricity in the 60's but gives a peaceful view of the White River. Continuing down SR450 you will see a covered bridge and meandering views of the river. Near the end of the road you will pass through Dover Hill which has several ninety degree turns in a row. When you reach Shoals stop at Bomacs Drive-in.
Scenery
You'll see plenty of farms in the river valleys. There is a dam and a covered bridge in the Williams area. From Williams to Indian Springs the road travels the spine of a mountain with nice views.
Drive Enjoyment
The road was resurfaced a couple years ago. The road is mostly sweeping but don't get complacent as there are some sharp curves when you least expect it. Keep an eye out for deer.
This route is absolutely Amazing!! It will test every skill set you have and maybe some you will learn more about. The original 'poster' is correct you have to be on your game because the blind over the top of a hill and to The Right or Left can get you. It has 1st gear almost switchbacks, 4 large hills all in view at the same time, and all with only local cars and not many were in our way. I guarantee you won't be disappointed with Rt 450 from Bedford to the Shoals area.

Indiana Route 450 is one of the best rodes to ride, plenty of curves, good road, and you must stop at Williams Dam. I like to ride it from Route 50 at Shoals to Bedford. Then go north on Rt. 37 to Rt. 58 and take it to Rt. 135 to Nastville. Stay on Rt 46 East to Rt. 246 to Clay City.
