Written Directions

This a combination of the best routes in Muskoka (many of which can be found in MotorcycleRoads.com as single routes). It is a circle route of 354 kms, and one can start and finish anywhere they like on the route. See attached map. Coming north from the Toronto area, one can start just north of Washago/Severn Bridge. Note, the map above has a small error in that can not be fixed on the map due to a technical limitation of the mapping software. The error is that the route in the map shows a small gap between the end point and start point that actually should instead show the route finishing a complete loop by continuing heading south on Route 13 until it intersects with Route 11.

Scenery

This route winds its way through beautiful Muskoka country. Muskoka is consistently named as one of the best places to visit in Canada and the world by publications such as National Geographic, Frommer's and Reader's Digest. Many people head to the Muskokas for beautiful Fall rides to take in the amazing colours.

Drive Enjoyment

The route tries to avoid major highways, opting instead for smaller paved roads. You will experience several outstanding twisties, with scenery that will knock you out. Riding adjacent to many small lakes, crossing rivers, it just doesn't get much better.

Tourism Opportunities

Many small towns are travelled through, creating numerous opportunities for dining, coffee/bakery stops, gas and lodging.

Take care on Southwood Rd. at he south end of this route, just north of Washago. Southwood Rd. is good, but inconsistent quality. Beginning at the south end, first km or two are quite patchy. No problem negotiating, just bumpy. Next 10 kms or so were great. Maybe 2 or 3 small gravel spots. Then cross railway tracks and lots of gravel for maybe 6-8 kms. Last 4 or 5 kms were okay. Overall it's good, I liked it, but gotta be careful on the north half. (My kms may be off as I didn't measure, just guessed.)

This is a great combination of some excellent back country paved roads winding their way through the Muskokas. Beautiful scenery, wonderful roads. It's a long route, but well worth it.
