Written Directions
Highway 28 runs between AR Hwy 27, near Rover, and Hwy 71 close to Boles, AR. If you are in Danville, AR, just take Hwy 27 south out of town. You will immediately start climbing up and over a small mountain range, which is part of the Ouachita National Forest. Once you get to the town of Rover, that’s where Hwy 28 starts. The road is scenic. It’s just typical rural America, with Farmhouses and Pastures along the way. Hwy 28 eventually reaches Hwy 71. Waldron is the nearest town with Gas and places to eat. We rode from there north up to Waldron for lunch at a local Diner.
Scenery
Hwy 28 is your typical country road in Northwest Arkansas. You will be riding thru small towns, passing Farms, and large pastures full of cattle. It road runs along the valley floor between two mountain ranges that are part of the Ouachita National Forest.
Drive Enjoyment
It's a nice country road. The road surface wasn't bad, not many potholes or cracks in the road, but the surface wasn't very smooth in the beginning. But, about half-way thru the ride, once you reach Scott county, the road is beautiful smooth pavement and nice big sweepers.
Tourism Opportunities
There is really nothing along the route but a few small towns that are so small, you only know it's considered a town by having a Volunteer Fire Station or a Post Office with the towns name. Once you reach Hwy 71, you can head north up to Waldron which has Gas and places to eat.
Motorcycle Road Additional info
We had lunch at Judy's Diner on Hwy 71 Business, which goes right thru town. There is also the Charbroiler restaurant and the Rock Café. Waldron should have anything you need from Grocery stores to a local hospital.
