Written Directions

Begin in Walland, TN where Foothills Parkway meets US 321 and travel South-West along the Parkway to US 129 (of Tail of The Dragon fame).

Scenery

Several pull-offs for sight-seeing along the Parkway offering views of the Great Smoky Mountains on one side and portions of the Tennessee Valley on the other.

Drive Enjoyment

Road quality is good. Some small patchwork areas, but nothing that should cause any major hazards. Several sweeping turns and a few sharp ones along the way.

Tourism Opportunities

No amenities along the Parkway or at the US 129 end. Stop for fuel and food in either Maryville or Walland before getting on the Parkway.

One of the most outstanding rides that I have been on. The views throughout the ride was amazing.

Last rode 8/31/2018 (Friday, early AM) (north to south) Headed for the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway from Knoxville. This is a short pleasant ride to get you in the mood for the Dragon. Smoky Mountains on the left, valley on the right. Mostly riding in the trees, so limited views. Some easy curves to limber up. Limited traffic, no amenities. Road in good condition.

I've driven this numerous times in a car/suv, and one round-trip on my bike. The trip on my bike was at night, and it was foggy, so I was really on edge (in a good way) and my senses were kicking in. It's not a technical ride, but the view is great, and during my night ride I had the road to myself. I love this ride, and will gladly ride again.
