Written Directions

Start in Edom, TX which is about 15 miles west of Tyler, TX. From Edom, simply head south on Route 314. The scenic part of Route 314 starts in Edom and travels south, ending at Route 315. Then continue on south on Route 315, which is also scenic into the ride's end point of Palestine. Note: You can also pick up 314 south off of I-20, but it does not get scenic until Edom.

Scenery

Mixture of heavily wooded, and rolling farm pastures. Keep an eye out for deer in the fall. This ride also passes by Lake Palestine.

Drive Enjoyment

Road surface very good. Very little traffic. Lots of slow sweepers and tighter turns, mixed in with nice east Texas hills

Tourism Opportunities

Some roadside historical markers. Hwys. travel through a couple of small towns with gas stations. The route starts in Edom and ends in Palestine, and both have diners, etc. If you are looking for a short trip to plan around a breakfast or lunch run, this is great road.

Beautiful ride from Edom into Palestine. We then searched for coffee places in Palestine and find a gem at Cream & Coffee. Well worth a visit!

6/13/2016 I started in Canton TX around 7am. Stopped off at The Shed in Edom. Has a nice ride down 314 then to 315. Plenty of nice scenery turns etc... The roads were decent. Made it past Poynor TX (US175) when I started running into wild life. First 3 dogs, then a rooster and that is when I had an encounter with a heard of deer. I managed to not go down, but I hit one. I really like this road, but if you are riding early in the morning, be careful!!!

This is a tree lined route through rolling hills which provide scenic views the whole way. In early spring the fields are covered with flowers and later in the summer green fields. In the winter the road surface is great for testing out the tires on the sport bike, hills and sweepers.
