Written Directions

(See Map) Hwy 215 is located just north of Cass Arkansas off Hwy 23 (better known as the Pig Trail). Take 215 east as it runs through Oark, AR and finally runs into Hwy 21 (Ozark Highland Byway).

Scenery

This route runs near the legendary Pig Trail. It is a not-so-well known route running thru the Boston Mountains with great views of the Mulberry River.

Drive Enjoyment

Smooth road with lots of curves and very little traffic.

Tourism Opportunities

Not much on this road as far as amenities. Just you and the gentle curves and great scenery!

Photo contributed by Mike Whaley: "Stopped at a "scenic overlook" and shot this of the Mulberry River. Late April, '09. Great ride. Best have your motorcycle skills up to par! Killer 1/2 lb. cheeseburger at the Oark General Store. Don't order the double!"

A hidden gem. I rode this from AR 23 to AR 103, several times, in May 2013. Road surface was in good condition. Minimal traffic, just a few other bikes, a couple of cars, and an ATV was all we saw in numerous runs on this road.
On the west end there is a small grass airstrip so you'll sometimes see ultralights or helicopters flying in and out of it. The rest of the road is a mix of sweepers and tighter turns with good scenery and several pull offs overlooking a river.
NO services-gas, food, or anything else between AR 23 and AR 103.
After crossing Herrod's Creek near AR 23, there is an ATV park so be on the lookout for ATVs and/or people entering and exiting. This is a fun one so go enjoy!

Got on at the Hwy 23 end and rode to Oark for lunch. It's a good road with great scenery. The Oark store is a hoot! One of the locals said it was now under new management. I'm not sure what he meant by "new". It appears to be doing fine. Numerous customers there, even as it was a rainy day. The pavement still ends at Catalpa as I'm told. Didn't try it. This road should definitely be on your list of must-do's if you are in the area!

I rode this road yesterday. (09/23/2011) The construction is completed. The route is paved all the way from Cass on AR 23 through Oark and on to Catalpa. Catalpa is about 4 miles east of Oark. From Catalpa to Ozone, the road IS NOT PAVED. That being said, the road south from Oark to Clarksville (AR 103) is fantastic. In addition to the Oark General Store, the General Store at Catalpa, where the pavement ends has fantastic pies. You have to ride about 500 feet of gravel to get there.
