Written Directions

Start in Coldspring, TX and take Route 224 north (see map) until it runs into Route 156. Get on 156 heading north along the lake (take a right). When Route 156 runs into US Hwy 190 take a right for a little over a mile and then look for Route 980 off to the left which you want to take north. Take this till it hits Route 19 where you want to take a right and take this into Trinity, TX.

Scenery

This route takes in the entire west side of Lake Livingston. You'll see the lake, lots of pine trees, nice homes, deer and ranches.

Drive Enjoyment

The road has just went through resurfacing. Twist and turns makes 45-50 mph the limits, but slow down and enjoy

Tourism Opportunities

Stop by Jerry's at Indian creek and enjoy refreshment of your choice. At the end of the road take a right on 156. Just down there aways is Porkchops Icehouse. A real Biker Bar. Really nice looking girls work there. There are many Biker Bars in the area. Stop and ask about the Hilltop (great damn Hamburger). Porkchops (good looking women) and KC in Trinty (nice people; ask for Kay).

I just got back from this ride with my girlfriend.
The pavement was indeed smooth and there were some parts near the lake that were hilly and curvy.
We stopped in Coldspring at "The Hop" a 50's style burger joint. It was pretty awesome. We also stopped at Porkchops which was pretty cool as well...
All in all, it was an enjoyable ride.

Nice ride. KC's is definitely a place to eat if you get there around lunch or dinner. The ride had nice roads that were well maintained. Nice a peaceful ride.

This is a great trip if you are riding in from Houston because its not that far away depending on what day you go. From Houston when you get to Cleveland, Tx via US 59 exit FM 2025, as it goes thru part of the Sam Houston National Forest with elevation changes wich are great being from Houston (flat as a pancake). I have never been to Pork Chops but plan to go soon. As far as "The Hop" is concerned, I highly recomend the "Hop Supreme" pizza, it will change your outlook on life! The Hop is a small little burger joint that reminds me of a place i used to go to as a kid in Friendswood, Tx. Anyway Lake Livingston is a huge lake but most of the secnenary is along the west side hence the above recomended trip.
