Written Directions

PA 259 is directly off of Route 30 between Lawson Heights and Ligonier. Although it's terminus is PA 422 anything north of PA 56 is boring. So it's starting point up north, that's worthy to be ridden, is PA 56 intersection east of Homer City, PA.

Scenery

This is a valley road in the south, for the most part. It does cross some hills, but you get some nice views of the hills on both sides of the road. North of Bolivar it opens up and you been to sweep on tops of hills with more of a residential feel.

Drive Enjoyment

North of Bolivar, PA the road is a solid 3.5 to 4. South of Bolivar, however, the road is pretty disappointing. Patch work here and there, dirty, horse manure. This road could really stand to be paved, and in doing so would bump up the fun a good deal.

Tourism Opportunities

Get your gas and food in Homer City or Ligonier because there aren't really any towns short of Bolivar (which isn't a big one) on this road.

Motorcycle Road Additional info

Nice scenic, semi-twisty, poorly to averagely paved road. A decent one if you're in the area. Nothing I'd go out of my way for, though. It does have potential, though...

I wish I could write more positive things about this road, but the surface just wounds it. The twisties and sweepers of the road south of Bolivar are great and all, but you have to adjust your line to make up for the potholes and/or patchwork, throw in a bit of mud tracks and you have a pretty challenging road. North of Bolivar is much more clean, flat smooth and open with sweepers, but the twisties are gone. If only they'd pave the road south of Bolivar...
