Written Directions

Start in Mendham, NJ and take Co rte. 510 into Chester. Once you get to Chester, take Co route 513 south to 31 south to Clinton Twp/Annandale, then jump on US 22 E or I 78E (for about 7 or 8 miles) then go north onto Oldwick Rd/ Co rte 523. Co rte 523 turns into Co Rte 517, continue north until you get to co rte 512, make a right and follow 512 eastbound through Peapack-Gladstone, NJ and follow until you reach US 202N, take 202N through Bernardsville, NJ and make a left onto Tempe Wick Rd., Tempe Wick Rd will take you right back into Mendham, NJ/ County Route 510

Scenery

Whether you like quaint little towns, rolling countryside and horse farms, or tree-lined back roads this is a great route on a bike

Drive Enjoyment

Relatively flat, but rolling, has some good twisties in some places and enough "open it up" straight-aways to keep you engaged the whole time. Road quality is good, no potholes, nicely paved.

Tourism Opportunities

In some spots there's nothing for awhile, but plenty of chain restaurants in the Annandale/Clinton Township stretch along US 22/I 78E. Mendham, Chester, Peapack and Bernardsville all have lots of little restaurants (but warning--they tend to the pricey side).

Motorcycle Road Additional info

This routes takes you past a bunch of national, and state parks, places like Morristown National Park/Jockey Hollow, Natirar, and a bunch of other Nature preserves and preserved farmlands, make this a very scenic tour.

Ride was very enjoyable , had a mix of small town scene and great mountain and farm scenery.
Very few times had to go feet-down. when you get on 78/22 east i got off the very next exit and stayed on rt 22. I will do this run again and will invite friends to join in this ride. I did take 46 to 202 south to Washington ave in Morristown to start trip.

Did this ride just yesterday, enjoyed it tremendously. Thanks for recommending it. Awesome road conditions with enough twists and turns, very pretty lil'old, main-town USA and farmland sceneries. Also impressive was that it was a gorgeous Sunday and I did not hit any traffic congestion, period, despite a couple town fairs (Chester and Bernardsville) with detours. Absolutely recommended. Just stick to the directions exactly as they are and you won't regret it. Will also try uploading a couple photos...
