The name of the town is Pepperell, not Paper Mill…

Written Directions

Start your route in the town of Bedford, MA. There is a gas station in the center of town which serves as a good meeting point. Begin Heading west on route 225 and follow road signs for 225 west through MA towns of Carlisle, Westford and finally Groton. Once you reach Groton, a detour will re-route you to other points of 225 or route 40. Both are OK as long as you connect with 119 in Groton. Continue on 119 heading north west Head west through the towns of Paper Mill Village and Townsend. After you pass through Townsend look for Mason road on the right. Take a right on Mason Rd which will in about a mile turn into Greenville Rd and take you over the NH border. Once in NH, the road changes names to NH Route 124. Now stay on Route 124 for a while as it goes to Jaffrey, NH. When you get into Jaffrey, you will pass through the US 202 intersection and in 2.25 miles you'll come to a road called Dublin on the right. Take Dublin Rd north (take a right) all the way up to the town of Dublin. This road is awesome!! (Note: you'll pass the entrance to Monadnock State Park (you may want to pull in there and check things out)). Dublin road will connect to Main Street in Dublin, NH. When you intersect Route 101, go right (east) and follow this road towards Manchester and eventually another Right onto 45 S. 45 will take you south through Temple and Greenville, MA at which point you can take either Route 31 or Route 123 south to Route 124 where you started when you entered into NH. From here you can either head back to Bedford or head wherever you want.

Scenery

Great Ride. Start in eastern suburban MA, and work your way through scenic southern NH.

Drive Enjoyment

Awesome roads, full mix of NEWLY paved roads, long stretching straight-aways and a full serving of twisties.

Tourism Opportunities

Very few. A small number of beds and breakfasts, some gas stations, but not too much to do other than enjoy the scenery.

I've done variations of this loop two dozen times. When you need relief from those high humidity summer days, the 1000 ft elevation of the Jafferey area is great. Rt 137 is a favorite twisty road. Great memories riding rt 124 then turn right onto 101 east bound: climbing uphill, big sweeping turns, the U shaped road bending around Dublin pond!

The ride was great. I left from Woburn, MA and went out rt 225. Getting out to Groton is always a crap shoot concerning creeping crawlers. Rt 124 was a great road and the hill climb up to rt101 was awesome. Careful in these corners. Had my back end slide out a couple times on sugar sand from road wash, Thanks to the recommendation to come back rt 123. This rode was a "Don't Miss". This ride is a keeper. Thanks, Ken
