Written Directions

From Downtown Evanston, ride North on Chicago Ave and it will turn into Sheridan Rd by Northwestern University. After about 10 miles, take a left to get off on Lake Cook road after 10 miles and the Chicago Botanic Garden will be right there.

Scenery

This is mostly a suburban route surrounded by trees, green parks and impressive houses. At times you get to see a bit of the lake on your right when riding North. Not an amazing scenery but definitely a better alternative than the boring views of the 94 Expy.

Drive Enjoyment

The road is fun, very curvy but with lots of curves but has quite a few potholes. You'll find a few stop signs and a couple of traffic lights. Rather slow, with an urban speed limit of 30 throughout.

Tourism Opportunities

The road itself doesn't offer much other than a couple of parks by the lake is you want to stop. For restaurants, etc you can take a detour onto Green Bay Rd., which runs parallel just a couple blocks East. Before start, Downtown Evanston offers all the amenities you may need.

Motorcycle Road Additional info

This is not an amazing route, but it is definitely a worthy option for a short ride if you are in the Northside of Chicago and want to get out of the city.

Nice scenic view on Sheridan. Do get off your bike and have a walking tour of Botanical Garden. That will burn you a few hours.

The southern half of this route is 'meh' and the northern half is excellent. While the southern half has some good views, there's nothing else to make it stand out. The northern half winds through some very fun and tight corners in a tiny forest. Traffic can be a pain - I recommend pulling over and waiting for a break so you don't end up following some grandma doing five under.
