I rode this on my way home to Indiana from the Smokies. Just west of downtown Georgetown 227 branches north off of 460. It twists and turns and rolls about 32 miles to Owenton which has some amenities but not a lot. Shortly after Owenton the road joins 127 for a few miles before returning to character and dipping off toward the Ohio River. 227 ends at Carrollton on the Ohio River. Looks like a very nice little town.
Scenery
Scenery is good with nice views and the occaisonal great vista or overlook but the area is fairly poor so there is a lot of "affordable" housing along the route.
Drive Enjoyment
Many sweepers and twisty in spots. A good deal of elevation changes but not major climbs.
Tourism Opportunities
Nothing much here. Carrollton, on the Ohio where 227 ends looks to have some places to eat etc. Not much else. Just fun riding.
Motorcycle Road Additional info
Take a right on 36 and loop back to 227 or take a left on 36 to ride right along the Ohio to historic Madison IN. 421 provides a way back to Frankfort and 460 to form another loop back to Georgetown. Watch out for elderly farmers as you ride.
I had come down to the Lexington area to ride the Red River Gorge area and the Nada Tunnel near Stanton riding a loop that also went through Hazard, Harlan, Berea, Nicolasville returning to Georgetown. The next day looking for an interesting route home I found this trip up to Carrolton. It was a fantastic ride through horse and tobacco country with curves and hills that did not allow much time for admiring the scenery, but was great fun. Rode over to Rabbit Hash afterward to eat and pet the dogs. Great trip that I hope to ride again.

Rode on 6/5/20. Nice road, occasional twisty sections. Quite a few construction sites along the route.
