Written Directions

Take your best route to the intersection of Hwy 21 and Hwy 8 in Potosi, MO. Head west on Hwy 8 for 0.2 miles, then turn left onto Hwy P. Continue for 14 miles, then continue straight onto Hwy C. In 0.3 miles, turn left onto Hwy DD. Continue for 9.9 miles, then turn right onto Hwy 32. In 10.5 miles, you will reach the end destination, the Bixby Country Store, on the right.

Scenery

Once you leave the "suburbs" of Potosi, the route is almost entire wooded, with rolling hills. Approximately 3/4 of the route is located within the Mark Twain National Forest.

Drive Enjoyment

Hwy P is paved asphalt leaving Potosi, turning into well maintained chip-and-seal upon entering the Mark Twain National Forest. Hwys C and DD are also well maintained chip-and-seal pavement. Hwy 32 has been recently (as of summer 2021) repaved with rolled asphalt. The route is curvey without being overly challenging, with rolling hills.

Tourism Opportunities

The main attraction along the route is the Mark Twain National Forest. The route goes past Council Bluff Lake, which has a NFS campground and boat launch. Potosi has a number of restaurants and shops, but the highlight of the ride is the destination stop, the Bixby Country Store. As the name suggests, you can get almost any staple good, from bread, milk, meat, and eggs, to work shirts and jeans, to tools and ammo. They also have a deli counter that makes outstanding sandwiches and lunch plate specials.

Motorcycle Road Additional info

Don't miss the train caboose next door. Hwy 32 either to the east (to Ste. Genevieve) or the west (to Lebanon) is a great ride to head home on.
