Written Directions

Start in Walhalla, SC and head north on route 28, cross the SC/GA border, stay on route 28, cross the GA/NC border, and head into Highlands, NC (then end point).

Scenery

Beautiful National Forest scenery. Mountains, Rivers and Waterfalls ... a great sampling of 3 states in a nice 30 mile run! Travels through the Sumter National Forest and later Nantahala National Forest.

Drive Enjoyment

Plenty of tight curves as well as some long sweepers, nice transitions. For the pavement, the majority of the road is in good shape. Once in the forest area you can twist the throttle and drag your knees.

Tourism Opportunities

Not a lot between Walhalla and Highlands, so, fill up before you leave Walhalla. No restaurants or other facilities for miles.

Long sweeping turns and some fast, flat segments in the valley turn into tight twisties and limited sight-lines in the mountains. Be alert for several decreasing radius turns near Walhalla. Gorgeous leaf scenery in the fall, and some friendly spots to stop along the way.

This is a great short ride. From walhalla all the way up is usually light traffic and nice curves.

Route that is full of natural beauty and a lot of twistys. Much of it runs along a river. Be ready for some technical and blind curves. Awesome time though!
