Written Directions

Starting point in Scottsboro, Al at Hwy 35/279 and Tupelo Pike. Go north on Tupelo Pike. The road turns left at Pikeville Store. Continue straight on CR 470 at the store. CR 470 T's at CR 33, turn left. Next stop sign is at Hwy 79, turn left. Go 5.5 miles and turn right on CR 17. Go 3.8 miles and turn right on CR 8. CR 8 will take you to Woodville.

Scenery

This route takes you through farm land. You will go up and over Skyline Mountain. While on the mountain, you will get short glimpse of the valley below when the leaves are on the trees.

Drive Enjoyment

This loop has some twisties and several switchbacks. You will encounter them going uphill and down. Going down CR 8, you will have a "corkscrew" that drops 15-20 feet. There are very few places that have long straights. The majority of the road is good pavement, but watch for potholes on the mountains.

Tourism Opportunities

Fuel and a Dairy Bar near start at Hwy 35. Pikeville store has a very good hamburger. There's fuel and pizza on Hwy 79. In Woodville, there's a small restaurant and a store with deli and fuel.

Pavement was more or less dismal in spots, but the mountain ascent makes for a great skills check. If pavement was better, this road would be a tourist destination. There was no traffic, scenery was beautiful, the road had kinks all over. I wouldn't mind another pass at this.

Has twistys and switchbacks, little to no traffic, but pavement on CR 8 is very rough. If the road was better and it would have to be much better, this would be a really awesome ride!

Pavement on 8 and 33 is in really bad shape. Really would like to ride it again with even a semi-smooth surface.
