April 7, 2014 and FM51 is under some kind of construction making the southern few miles pretty crunchy. This is a really cool route though and continues to be cool all the way to Gainesville at I-35. Less curvy as it goes north but the long climbs result in long views which are compelling day or night. Watch for hogs at night in TX. Loco Coyote is a must but only open Thurs-Sat. BBQ beef was amazing and the portions are, dare I say it, Texas sized!

Great way to get from Grandbury to Glen Rose. Loco Coyote is a must stop, with great food and a place to meet new friends.

Stopped at Loco Coyote from review and Man, that was great. Went up 51 and great turns. Be careful of loose gravel in a lot of places though.

Riding from north to south, it starts off as a nice cruising road with rolling hills and easy curves. But the southern 1/3 of the road has some serious twisties. The posted recommended speed on the curves are deceptive, as they are not as tight or slow as the posted speeds would suggest (probably meant for trucks and other heavily loaded farm vehicles). Nice scenery, but, as the posted noted, nothing much on the road itself. But it's a nice alternative to US 377/US 67.
