Should continue NORTH until 503 dead ends into Ohio Rte 121 and take that back to Rte 40 ! You missed the best part of Oh503 if you stopped in West Alexandria....Even carrying it to I-70 in Lewisburg and catching the Interstate would have given you about 5 miles of the best curves in Ohio !

You could extend the tour by taking 503 up to 121 and then take 121 to New Paris. Another thing to do is extend your tour from Eaton by taking the Preble County Covered Bridge tour. also consider taking 732 or any back road like SR 732 from Eaton to Oxford for some excellent eye candy at Miami University. The back roads around Miami U are really pretty as well..

I like to just get between state routes and try to ride the back roads by dead reconing, but Preble County will get you turned around, so a GPS is mandatory.
Stay off 127 South of Eaton Old folks with time on their hands just drive slowly for no reason at all

Was a good ride. I continued past West Alexandria to I-70. The rolling hills and smooth road made for a good ride. I did find some 30mph curves at the end of a good straight causing you to have to slow down a decent amount. Scenery was good. Some good country charm.

Got a chance to ride this little loop today and it was a good time. from the xenia area it was about a 2 hr. ride from start to finish. what it lacks in corners it makes up for in elevation changes and just a nice ride through the country.

We rode from Troy Ohio south on Rt.48 to Lebanon then over Rt.63 and Rt.73 to Monroe and picked up the ride from there. We rode up Rt.503 to Rt. 40 and then back over to Troy. It was about 150 miles and a very scenic ride. Thanks for the advice, I would ride it again.

If your going to run this may as well run it all… OH-503 is only 40 miles long, running north/south from Seven Mile to Oh-121, just south of Wayne Lakes. The section south of West Alex is the more hilly stretch, section north is the more twisty, (well twisty for this part of Ohio). Surface is in good shape, stretch between Gratis and West Alex was chip n sealed in 2017, so it doesn't have as smooth a surface as the rest, it's not rough riding, just surface is coarse. I've never really noticed any gravel and I've road this many, many times. Gas available in Gratis, West Alex and Lewisburg, Buckeye Jake's in West Alex is a decent place to eat, it's just one block east of traffic light at 503 & US-35 intersection.. I would suggest to either start or finish at Barn N Bunk Farm Market, 3677 Wayne Madison Rd in Trenton, 1/4 mile north of OH-73. Trenton is only 4 miles east of Seven Mile. Neat little place with country store, Amish cookies, old fashioned candies and a deli with cold sandwiches, hamburgers and hand dipped ice cream. Tables inside and out. Speedway and UDF at corner of 73 & Wayne Madison Rd in Trenton. There are some other decent roads in the area as well as a number of covered bridges.

For this area there are a lot of fun hills and turns so it's fun for a quick ride. There isn't a lot of places to stop, so this is probably best to tack onto an additional ride in the area.
