This route is a super day trip. We took a picnic lunch and found the perfect spot behind Hune Covered bridge. It was a shady picnic area not seen from the bridge. The 4 bridges are beautiful! We followed 26 all of the way to 800. Then headed toward 7 and followed the river back.

My wife and i took the ride from Lancaster down to route 26 the first week of Sept. 2009 , really nice ride , about 250 miles round trip from our house , other than a farmer almost crossing the road in front of me on his tractor it was a non threatening ride , by the reaction of the tractor driver this was not the first time he had to wait for a bike to pass . Traffic was very light and mostly bikes ,

I took this route twice last year, onece with my wife and another with a group of friends......A beautiful ride with a nice array of scenery. The covered bridges are a sight to see.....One, you do have to ride back a loose gravel road......Is worth the ride back as it is the best of them all.....Once you get to the woodsfield end, turn left and go thru Woodsfield and Straight to Malaga......There is a very nice sports bad with really good food right before the BP....It is called G-N Sports Bar & Grill, not open on Sundays!!!!

Great ride but don't expect any gas, stores, or taverns except at the ends. Best in mid to late October when the leaves change.

I have taken this ride many times, and it is always a lot of fun. The best 'roller coaster' is at the beginning of the road just outside Marietta. Be ready for it, and enjoy it, but ride at your skill level, the first few miles are a real challenge for any skill level. The bridges are a great reminder of a time gone by. Take a picnic lunch, and enjoy these bridges and the great road.

This is a truly great ride. Non-stop curves for 45 miles. I've been with friends who were glad to get to Woodsfield for a break.

The whole stretch of OH-26 from Marietta to OH-148 is arguably one of the best rides in Ohio. 26 actually runs all the way up to US-40, however stretch from 40 to OH-148 is County Road 26, doesn't become State Route 26 till you get south of OH-148. Anyhow... although I like section north of Woodsfield better, make no mistake... Woodsfield to Marietta is a great ride! Couple covered bridges, nice scenery, little traffic.

I've been on this route so many times that I've lost count and I don't even live in the area. I'm from Pittsburgh. We go out to Wayne's and do all the crazy roads out there and 26 is the mainstay for getting where we need to go in the forest. As mentioned north of Woodsfield up to 148 is your ticket. South of that is more of a cruiser road with the softer turns for the most part and more scenery, but nothing that would put you to sleep. Still an entertaining route top to bottom.

Traveled in June, Beautiful scenery. Nice curves and everyone on their porches waved. Loved the white, yellow, green, and orange house, too!
