Im a passenger on our VTX Honda. We travel as much as the weather will allow. Old liberty road is a very nice travelling road. Beautiful countryside. We often make a stop at the "Homeland Creamery" and enjoy an Ice Cream Cone. Whenever you are in this area, ck it out. You will not be dissapointed!

I rode this today, and ride it often. I live just a few miles from the Liberty end and love to tear it up on a regular basis! There are quite a few potholes due to the recent winter weather but it's still a good road to get the heart pumping!

I live right in the area, and it's still one of my favorite spots to ride. Just do yourself a favor and cut back to 22 or use the back roads. 421 is the pits! Busted concrete slabs full of nasty pot holes. Ugh!

Fantastic. Loved all of the old, narrow bridges. Easily the best road I've ridden without being in the mountains. Just wish it was longer!

I added on to the Asheboro route, but it wasn't that great. Maybe back when the OP rode it, it was nice. Now, the road surface is rough and the town of Liberty is deserted.

Beautiful ride on a quiet Sunday afternoon with lots of twisties, one lane bridges, and nice country. Came down from Greensboro to Liberty on Old Liberty Road and then back to Greensboro via Randleman Road for a very nice loop.

Love this road. You come up on rises that will make you feel like you're in the NC Mountains near the BRP.
Don't go aggressive on this road your first time. There's little surprises around every other twist.

Thank you for posting this road, just moved here from NY and this is the best road I have been on so far. Downside is I live about 50 minutes away but beats riding out to the mountains! Just be careful around the 1 lane bridges.

The best route is to start in Pittsboro, travel north on 87. Turn right on to Silk Hope Gom Springs Road, and travel to Liberty. Great rural countryside scenery. 2 gas stations along the way. Pick up Old Liberty Road in Liberty. Great Sunday afternoon ride

Great road for motorcycles but watch out for slow drivers and farm equipment...trust me on this.

I drove on Old Liberty Road in October of 2008. Decided to go on one of the back roads in Randolph County, one of my favorite counties to go through in North Carolina. I went on that stretch between NC 22 and US 421 just to get back to the main highway. What a spectacular section of winding curves! This is like the mountains and you don't even think you're in one of the bedroom counties south of Greensboro! It's like the Blue Ridge Parkway at times, but this is about 25 miles south of Greensboro! And over 180 miles east of the mountains! Starts off like ordinary road before you get to the 3 to 4 miles of curves. It has these high banks within some of these curves. I'd have to say that there were about 25 to 40 curves within this stretch. It seems like you're going into a deep black hole before coming right back up into the heavens the way the series of curves is set up during this 8 mile section between 22 and 421. And this is one of the exits on US 421. You will not feel the same person again as you go on this adventurous stretch!

This is an excellant addition to an afternoon ride around the central NC Piedmont (NC 22,42,49...)! A few riders call thie curves on this stretch of road, "the closet thing to the "Dragon" east of the actual road...now I've rode 129 and while this is nowhere near as exciting a ride, it can, IMO, be a decent primer for an assault on the "Dragon"!!!

This is a twisty road, with some hidden switchbacks. Don't go to much over the speed limit which is mostly 35 or 45 MPH depending on where you are at. There are some potholes in the road, but nothing that will cause you to wipe out as long as you pay attention! There are two or three one lane only bridges, so watch out for oncoming traffic. For the most part, there is not a lot of traffic on this road, and it is a fun ride, especially if you combine it with some other routes/riding.
