Not sure why this route got zero stars for scenery. It's gorgeous! Listen close, kids. I'm going to tell you a secret about this route. The section of Hwy 1 between Leggett and the coast is the best riding of ALL of Hwy 1 in California. Better than Big Sur. Yeah, I said it. Less traffic. More up and down, more tight turns, more fun! You could even improve this loop by including Branscombe Road to make it a figure 8. Pay attention to the road surface. I haven't ridden this section this year (2026), but in past years there were a few places on 1 between Leggett and the coast where the surface was coming apart a bit. Not drastic, but good to be aware of.
