Written Directions

If you want to take this route from the south to the north, start the route by finding your way to Ducktown, TN (which is about 70 miles south of Knoxville, TN near the TN/GA border). From Ducktown, simply take TN route 68 north all the way to Telico Plains, TN.

Scenery

A pristine country setting with mountains and creeks in abundance. There are also some very small communities along the way.

Drive Enjoyment

This road is not for the novice biker. Good road condition and some very tight turns and lots of curves. Hwy 68 runs into Ducktown, TN to Tellico Plains, TN. From the south end of it you can route from the south to connect to the Cherohala skyway.

Tourism Opportunities

Nothing really to do other than just enjoy the scenery and the awesome road twists and turns. From either direction fill up with gas because it might be the only opportunity you get. This route passes through the Cherokee National Forest.

if your riding north on 68 into Tellico Plains turn right onto 165 (turns into 143 aka Cherohala Skyway) about 2 mile on the left is hwy 360 which runs up to Vonore just outside of Maryville. This is a smaller version of hwy 68 it is an awesome combination!

There is a moto-specific campground that opened up in Tellico Plains on Hwy 68 in 2007. It's called Hunt's Lodge Motorcycle Campground - www.huntslodge.com. Great place to stay.
