Written Directions
Starting in Lovell head up to route US14A. If you're coming in from the south on 310 the turn will be on the right, from the north on 130 it will be on the left. Head down US14A 2 miles and you will encounter a sign pointing to Big Horn Canyon National Recreation Area, Hang a left and you will be on Wyoming Route 37. For those coming off the mountain on 14A the same sign as previously mentioned but this will be a right hand turn. Continue down WY37 for about 16 miles and the turn is on your right. It is not well marked but an easy way to remember is that it is the first paved right hand turn after the Montana/Wyoming Border. This road dead ends at the Devil's Canyon Lookout. Returning to the road you came in from if you take a right and continue North you will reach the end of the pavement, here take a right hand turn and it will take you down to Barry's Landing. Upon arriving at the large parking lot exit there, DO NOT DRIVE DOWN THE BOAT RAMP.
Scenery
The scenery on this ride is spectacular. There are many geological formations along the way. Glimpses of the canyon riding up to the lookout dash in and out of sight. At the look out, look over the canyon's edge hundreds if not thousands of feet down to the water, it is truly stunning and breathtaking. Keep an eye out for wild horses as well as big horn sheep along the road. The scenery is gorgeous at Barry's Landing Marina as well. It is hard to describe the beauty of this area.
Drive Enjoyment
There is a happy balance of curves and straights along this route. The roads are well maintained but watch for rocks and wildlife in the road. Be sure to stick to the speed limit! The park ranger does patrol these roads. DO NOT DRIVE DOWN THE BOAT RAMP at Barry's Landing turn into the parking lot.
Tourism Opportunities
There are campgrounds around Barry's Landing Marina. The overlook is the tourist attraction.
