Written Directions

Take Mo-49 from Cherryville, MO to the intersection of MO-49 & US-67.This ride is route MO-49 in southeast Missouri in the Mark Twain National forest. Riders may start on either the north or south as the scenery is different and beautiful in both directions.

Scenery

Scenery is terrific. The route covers mostly rugged wooded areas which occassionally opers up to beautiful vistas at bluffs. At other times you will ride through areas which seem like tree covered tunnels or open river valleys.

Drive Enjoyment

The road is mostly well maintained. However, watch for gravel that may have washed across the road after strong rains.

Tourism Opportunities

There are few places to stop, just a few small stores dot the route. However, there is one exception. You must make time to stop and visit the Bixby Store at the junction of 49 and 32. It is like stepping back into the 1940's. If its time to eat the food is good as well. Well worth your time.

I have taken riders on this route many times and never have I had anyone say they didn't enjoy the ride.
