Written Directions
Start off in Branson by Lake Taneycomo at the BassPro store. Head over the lake on the bottom bridge you can see from there. Take the bridge over the river into Hollister. At the round-about take a right on to US 65.
Just right at the 1st set of lights is Downing St, & there's an English Pub & Hotel there that serves good pub grub!
Just follow your nose & keep going on 65 and then at the next lights is College of The Ozarks which is also worth a visit.
Up the hill until you get to the stop sign at which point 65 will turn to the left but you want to go straight and get on route 165. Take route 165 for a few miles and then route 165 and route 265 will merge and you'll be riding both. Follow it down the hill & get great glimpses of Table Rock Lake which leads you to the TR State Park. You can go down into the marina area where there's a cafe & boat trips, or just enjoy looking at the sailboats & huge houseboats that are moored there! There is also camping facilities for anyone wanting to stay all around this area, & all are well signposted.
Go along further & there's a visitors center just before the dam on your left hand side which tells you all about the dam & the history of what was White River before they dammed it, this is also very interesting. You then pass over the dam, passing Moonshine Beach on your left (fee to enter) & you will see The Chateau Hotel & Restaurant standing majestically up above you.
When you reach the lights you are at the end of the route described here but at this point you have a choice to go either way. Turn right & it's an easy 5 miles back into Branson center, or go left until you reach the 76, which takes you through very nice hilly & forested sweepers, & then you just take the 76 back into Branson. Either route could be done in an hour if you don't stop at any of the facilities I mentioned, or it could also make up a full day touring & sightseeing at a leisurely pace.
