Written Directions
Starting at I-40 and S. Round Barn Rd. Go South on Round Barn Rd. which turns into Test Rd. Turn Right onto Salisbury Rd. At 4-way stop, turn right onto Abington Pike. Follow Abington Pike for about 10 miles. Abington Pike will intersect with a couple other roads. After roughly 10 miles, you will come to a T-intersection. Make a left over the bridge and then a Right onto W Clifton Rd/County Rd 410 N. which becomes Brownsville Rd. Continue on Brownsville Rd. until you reach IN-44. Continue on IN-44 to Connersville to the West or Liberty to the East.
Scenery
These quiet back-roads will follow the creek from Richmond to the lake. You will travel through woods, fields, and a couple very small towns. The roads are canopy-covered in some areas.
Drive Enjoyment
The hilly and curvy roads of this route are usually in pretty good shape. Most of the route was chip-sealed in 2013 so they should be good for a while. Watch for loose gravel in low-lying turns.
Tourism Opportunities
There is virtually nothing along this route as far as amenities are concerned. I don't believe there is anything to stop for in either of the small towns. However, just a mile or two south of the end point of this route is Mound State Recreation Area (https://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/2961.htm).
Motorcycle Road Additional info
This route is a great alternative to the straits of US-27.
