Written Directions

Start in Locust Grove, OK and head north on 82 (enjoy yourself for about the next 20 miles or so of winding roads). When you get to Langley turn left on to route 28 and end your route in Pensacola or Adair.

Scenery

Drive through foliage tunnels, along side Lake Hudson, see open prairies with rolling hills in the distance. You'll also pass next to the Spavinaw Hill State Game Refuge and see its untapped beauty. You'll also be in the vicinity of Snowdale State park (Which sits next to Lake Hudson) Update provided by OkieDawg in July of 2013: "This route crosses beautiful Lake Hudson near Locust Grove Ok then has sweeping turns to get you ready for the roller coaster that starts around mile 11. Then the road changes its personality completely to a roaring rip-snorter WOOHOO! the quality of the road is excellent especially for Oklahoma. With a smooth wide surface that is canted properly. The first time I road this route I was on a business trip with limited time. It was so much fun I went back and road it four more times before I ran out of time. I have ridden lots of great roads like the sisters in TX and Dragons Tail in NC and I would rate it better than the sisters and close to the tail. NO BS GREAT RIDE."

Drive Enjoyment

Lots and lots of twist and turns with a few hills thrown in. Great pavement not a pot hole one.

Tourism Opportunities

You won't be taking this route for the things to do along the way ... just gas up and ride!! Update provided by OkieDawg in July of 2013: "You go through the town of Salina Ok that has many amenities. then end up in Spavinaw that has a great biker bar that Welcomes all comers even big old chromed out Goldwings"

A great fun ride and very little traffic There is enough shade to keep you cool in the summer. Just remember, do not slow down if you hear banjo music:)

Not as big a fan as others have reviewed. Don't see how this can be compared to the Tail, or the twisted sisters. No switch-backs, and while the scenery is pretty in places, it's also "not pretty" in places.

My biggest concern though was the road itself. Several off-camber curves and curves in the middle of a hill crest. Probably a great ride for the locals, but not what I would consider a "destination".

Awesome Route! The 1st time I rode this route I was traveling for business and thought the road looked cool. I liked it so much that I did the section above Savinaw 5 times before I ran out of time. WOOHOO a great ride. I have ridden the Sisters in TX and Dragons Tail in NC. this road slays the sisters and if the 9 miles above Spavinaw was longer would give the Dragon a run for it money.
