Written Directions

ST RT 247 begins in Hillsboro, Ohio and ends at Wrightsville, Ohio on US RT 52 (another fine bike route).

Scenery

Rolling countryside. Farms, streams, woods, and hillbilly's like me ;) etc., etc. Note: this RT is somewhat similar to ST RT 41, which is already listed here.

Drive Enjoyment

Little traffic on this average to good road. Hills to ridges decent corners. This RT is good for "touring", "cruiser" as well as "sport" bikes.

Tourism Opportunities

Several small towns with gas and food along the way.

Has a few twisties, but not nearly as many as some of the other roads in the area. Watch out for slow moving vehicles.

Rt 247 isn't as hilly or curvy as other roads in Southeastern Ohio, but it is still a fun road to ride on. A good amount of roller coaster type hills and a few curves that make it interesting. A good all around road for different bikes and skill levels but riders, especially novices, should use caution as many parts of the route have little to no shoulder with drainage ditches on both sides of the roadway.

Our group of three (one cruiser, one sport, one scooter) rode this route during the third week of May 2012. Impressions are similar to those written in the original posting. Some rough sections and occasional corners that braking. Roller-coaster like series of smaller hills make the route very entertaining. Be on the lookout for slow moving traffic. Highly recommended.
