I chose this route because I was visiting the wonderful barbed wire museum in La Cross and was going to K.C next. There are also exhibits on the unique sandstone fenceposts from that part of the plains.
The route itself is unremarkable unless you can enjoy watching the waving of grain fields, the silhouettes of old farm buildings and windmills and wonder of the families that first put so much of their lives into taming the ground and making a life. It is a peaceful ride.
