Good long, meandering ride through the hill country near the Frio river. A good amount elevation change (for Hill country) I only rate it 4 because it is fairly long between opportunities for water and it is fairly exposed (not much relief from the sun). Note- I did it in August when my dash thermometer read 102 degrees! Which of course is operator error. ?. It also has a fairly long gap of nondescript, straight, flat road between the curvy sections. There is a cycle shop in Leakey, where I started and finished, that has cold beer and a bit of motorcycle memorabilia. My tip for those who do it in the warmer times of the year, keep in mind that the Frio River is a spring fed, gloriously cool respite from the heat. There are several places to pull of and cool down.
