Great scenic road. No commercial traffic. If you are a history buff, plenty of stops along this route to challenge and enlighten. The road itself is tranquil, smooth, gentle and rolling. Not challenging. no real steep grades, no real twisties. speed limit is strictly enforced but is up to 45 MPH now. With no lights or stop signs good pace and time can be made on this route, and you won't even realize you are riding through Tupelo or Jackson city limits. A side day trip and over night over to Vicksburg is worthwhile if you have the time about 1 1/2 hours off the parkway. Stop at the Tom Bigbee Waterway for a neat visit to the Dam and Army Corp of Eng visitor's exhibit. Shiloh Battle field isn't too far away either. Merriweather Lewis Grave site is along the Trace, not that far from the beautiful bridge over the Tennessee River. Campgrounds are free, first come first served!. and nice! A bucket list ride, for the trip and history and wildlife and changing geography. For twisties go somewhere else.
