Written Directions

Go east on Hwy 50 into Lake Geneva. This is a great village with plenty of things to do and see. You'll take Lake Shore Drive (south) until it links up with Hwy 120. Take Hwy 120 south to the WI/IL stateline. Hwy 120 becomes Hwy 47. Just south of the stateline you'll pass through Hebron. Nice farm town with a great ice cream shop Named "Dari". Head south to Woodstock. HD dealer at intersection of Hwy 47/14. Head east on Hwy 14. This isn't the best part of the trip, but again, history states that Baby Face headed east on Hwy 14 (Old N/W Hwy). Take Hwy 14 to Barrington. Once you get into Barrington, the park enterance is right by the McDonalds on Hwy 14.

Scenery

The Lake Geneva area is a great place to shop, eat and enjoy the scenic lake and community. A ride around the lake is well worth the time. The route to Barrington is mainly farm land with a couple of nice towns along the way. Old way side at the Wis/Ill stateline has an historical marker. The site where Baby Face Nelson confronted the FBI has a historical marker. This is at the Langendorf Park. For more info: Read "Public Enemies" by Bryan Burrough. Great detail about the events at the Lake Como Inn, the running gun battle and the "Battle of Barrington".

Drive Enjoyment

Most of the route is state and U.S. Hwy. Hwy 14 can get busy at times.

Tourism Opportunities

This is the route that Baby Face Nelson was believed to have taken when the FBI caught-up with him in Nov of 1937. The route starts at the Lake Como Inn located on the south end of Lake Como (Red Chimney Rd.) The inn has a great breakfast buffet on Sunday mornings. Nice way to start the ride. Camping and hotels are everywhere in Lake Geneva. Harley dealership in Woodstock (Intersection of Hwy 14 & 47) Places to eat: many in Lake Geneva, Dari Ice Cream in Hebron,IL and Kookers Chicago Hot Dogs in Barrinton right where the route ends. I also recommend you stop at "Kookers" for lunch.

A fun relaxing ride up to Lake Geneva. Good history of the roads! When you get in the LG area, you aren’t far from the Dirty Hoe bar (Kansasville) and Hawg Heaven (Salem Lakes)
