Written Directions

Start your route in Yardley, PA and go north on State Route 32 through New Hope, PA. Continue heading north while following the turns of the Delaware River. Shortly after you pass through Upper Black Eddy and Narrowsville, 32 will run into 611. Take 611 north for your last 9 miles till you reach Portland and the conclusion of this approximate 50 mile route.

Scenery

Routes 32 and 611 are tree lined and run along the beautiful Delaware River. The northern part of this route includes some incredible cliffs that add to this superb scenery of this pocket of Pennsylvania.

Drive Enjoyment

The roads are nice and smooth, rolling, with a few twists. The northern part is the hilliest of the route.

Tourism Opportunities

The route passes by many beautiful parks including Tinicum Park, Delaware and and the Ralph Stover State Park (look for the signs!). Along the way you'll pass through the town of New Hope which is a very interesting town that includes many antiques shops, restaurants, and retail stores. If you want to see a famous landmark and another great park that isn't exactly on this route, you can go about 6 miles south of this route's starting point in Yardley and check out the Washington Crossing State Park. This is the actual location where the famous "Crossing of the Delaware" by George Washington took place.

Most of the north end of 32 (maybe the northernmost 4 miles) is in real good shape, the rest is starting to form new potholes, especially the northbound lane.Continuing north on 611 (towards Easton) has some nice curvy twisty sections, makes it worth riding the motorcycle on As already mentioned, ride this route in autumn, when the leaves are turning for amazing scenery

Since it's close to home, this is one of my favorite rides.

Parts of 32 have been detoured on and off for the past three years due to flood damage. In late May we were going south and were detoured just north of New Hope.

If you're going don't miss the opportunity to hop across the bridges and see Stockton and Frenchtown N.J as well.

There are a lot of small towns. Upshift and slow down!!!! noise is becoming an issue and no one will die from cruising quietly thru a few towns. Especially not since you'll have so much fun on the roads that connect them.

Last two times I was in New Hope I didn't see anyone getting hassled but the local paper has had some things in it both pro and con in regards to the motorcycle traffic/tourism.

Remember, in a battle like this the group that spends the most money wins every time.
