Written Directions

The Cherry Valley Turnpike runs from Skaneateles NY to Cobbelskill NY. Skaneateles and is accessible from I 81 near Lafayette NY. This is a east bound route from Skaneateles. However one can travel the entire state on US - 20 and enjoy a beautiful leisurely ride. US 20 actually runs from Boston to Oregon so there is plenty more miles to stay on it if you like what you see.

Scenery

Cherry Valley Turnpike (US-20) takes you through some of the most picturesque landscape in all of New York state. Farms, hills, Windmills, and lakes. Be sure to have your camera ready there are scenic views to stop at.

Drive Enjoyment

US 20 is basically a 4 lane road with parts restricted to 2 lanes. Visibility is very good and road quality excellent. Parts of the road is divided by a median. This route travels through small towns with very little traffic.

Tourism Opportunities

US 20 winds through the southern part of the Mohawk valley. Many little towns, shops and beautiful little villages along the way. Many gas stations and BB's available along with nice restaurants to choose from.

Excellent stretch of road right through the heart of New York. Rolling hills and farms for miles. The road conditions are excellent and the curves and hills are gentle enough to ride with your copilot. Never ventured into this part of the state before, but I will be back sooner than later. Lots of places to stop to eat and gas up. Great ride!

I've used this route many times heading East on my way to Laconia NH for Bike Week. Bring you back to the late 50's early 60's before the highway system took over. nice wide road with history all along the way

Great Road. Especially from Auburn east with little traffic (except during the antique festival in Bouckville in August). Four lanes of rolling hills with interesting stops along the way... Cazenovia, Hamilton, Cooperstown just to name a few. I ride it every chance I get, this is one of my all-time favorite stretches of road in New York.
