Written Directions

From Big Timber you head north on US 191 to Harlowton then west on US 12 then it T's and then you head north thru the mountains US 89 all the way to Great Falls! This is the most scenic way to Glacier National Park. There's very little traffic and lots of scenery! Warning if you gas in Big Timber you may need to refuel in either Harlowton or White Sulphur Springs there are no gas stations after you get past White Sulphur Springs all the way to Great Falls!

Scenery

Lots of farm land and distant views of mountains and wildlife between Big Timber and Harlowtown. Plenty of mountains from White Sulphur Springs To Great Falls! There is a Milwaukee Road Railroad museum with lots of strange looking electric railroad equipment that was way ahead of it's time. The road from Harlowton toWhite Sulphur Springs is rough in spots but still passable at reduced speeds. The road from White Sulphur Springs to Great Falls has lots of mountain scenery and places to turn off and take a break. There's a ski area long the way to Great Falls. The scenery speaks for itself!.

Tourism Opportunities

There are few amenities except in Harlowton and White Sulphur Springs if your cruising range is 200 miles or less you will need to fuel up at one of these two places because once you leave White Sulphur Springs because there are no gas stations until you get to Great Falls.Harlowton has a fair ground were you can stop and relax and catch a bite to eat.
