Written Directions

Start in Menahga Minnesota and follow 71 north to 87. Turn east and follow this highway over to the junction of 13. This will take you to Nevis. From Nevis, head east on 34 to Walker. Turn Left in Walker onto highway 371. This skirts Leech Lake and takes you to Cass Lake, there turn East onto Hwy 2 and head for Bena. In Bena, turn South onto 8 and follow this to Federal Dam, Highway 63 heads east here, so turn left and follow until you get to Boy River. At that point this becomes Highway 4, follow 4 until you get to Remer. In Remer you need get on 200 West for a short bit and then turn south on Highway 6. Follow 6 south until you get to Emily Minnesota.

Scenery

This route takes you through some great wooded areas, past lakes, through some farming country, and back into the woods. Ride it in the fall to catch brilliant foliage changing. Watch for eagles and deer (both are abundant). You'll be traveling through Chippewa National Forest for much of the journey.

Drive Enjoyment

Much of the route shown is new (or new-ish) so road conditions are above average.

Tourism Opportunities

Great places to stop all along this route, gas, gambling, lodging, food, etc. There are stops available at least every thirty miles.

Motorcycle Type : Touring
This route was not anything special. I was staying a few hours south and took a day trip up to check it out. Other than some random points of interest along the way, it was pretty mundane. We did see some wildlife (a large deer that jumped out of the brush in front of us), but other than that it was pretty average back hwy type stuff. I imagine this trip would have been better in the fall (we rode it in July). Additionally, be prepared to be stuck behind slow moving traffic during much of the trip.
