Written Directions

Start in Stow, MA and head west on Rt 62 through to Princeton Station (30 miles), and take a left onto Rt 31 South for about 40 miles to Dudley (Dudley is right on the Connecticut state line). From there, look for Rt 131 North, and take a right. 12 miles later, you'll find yourself in Sturbridge, MA where there's Historic Sturbridge Village, antiques, and a slew of eateries. Get on Rt 20 west briefly, then turn onto Rt 148 north for 12 miles, which will bring you through North Brookfield. About 10 miles north of town, you take a right onto 122 and follow it south east about 8 miles into Paxton. From there, take a left onto Rt 31 North for eight miles, and in Princeton take a right onto RT 62 East, and ride on home.

Scenery

We found this route a terrific alternative to riding on RT 20, with it's endless stoplights. It's a great day-long ride through the countryside.

Drive Enjoyment

There's nothing scary about this route. Not a lot of traffic, you'll see more bikes than cars for a bunch of it. The last part of the ride brings you up into some hills.

Tourism Opportunities

You go through enough towns to gas up, and take a nosh. When you go through Sterling, on RT 62, look for Rota Spring Farm signs. Great ice cream, made from their own cows! Also nearby is the famous Davis Farm Mega Maze, which is good for a stop. In Sturbridge, MA you'll have a bunch of places to stop, eat, and browse. Fill up your tank there.

I ride this route alot, as it goes right through my town. It's very nice and open. I also like to stop at Rota Springs with my friends to get ice cream. I went to davis maga maze once and got lost for hours. The maze is maybe a half mile away from the ice cream, if you take a right out of rota's lot, and at the stop sign take a left and follow the signs. Great fun
