Written Directions
At the intersection of US 190 and LA-105 in Krotz Springs, take LA-105 north. Continue for 10 miles to the intersection with Lafleur St. Turn right for approximately 0,2 miles, then turn left to continue on LA-105. After 19.2 miles, turn left onto LA-1183. Continue for 6.5 miles to the intersection with LA-1 just west of Simmesport.
Scenery
The route travels for most of its length along the Atchafalaya River, with LA-105 running at the base of the river levee. Across from the levee, the route goes past a mix of farms and woods.
Drive Enjoyment
The route is essentially flat, with lots of sweeping curves along the river, and more twisty turns once you turn onto LA-1183. The road is asphalt paved, although well worn as of 2024 (watch for potholes and seam splits).
Tourism Opportunities
The main attraction on this route is the spot where the (in)famous final scene of the movie "Easy Rider" was filmed. Located 2 miles north of US 190 on LA-105, there is a marker on the river side of the road. NOTE: There is no real shoulder at this location, although there is a levee access dirt road that can provide off road parking for up to a small group of bikes.
There is a location for Billy's Boudin and Cracklins in Krotz Spring, located on US 190 just west of the intersection with LA-105. Simmesport has a few local shops and restaurants.
