Written Directions

This route can be started in either Morehead or Louisa. Exit I-64 at Morehead. The Louisa end can be reached by US 23 that runs from Ashland to Pikeville.

Scenery

The views from the mountaintops are spectacular especially in the spring and the fall. In Lawrence County you ride beside Yatesville Lake.

Drive Enjoyment

These are mountain roads that are twisting thru the forests of Eastern Kentucky. The road is 2-lane blacktop. The road department keeps the surface repaired.

Tourism Opportunities

Morehead offers restaurants from fast food to steakhouses. Between Morehead and Louisa, Be sure and stop at B&C Market in Blaine. These are good folks that offer hot and cold food plus gas. Louisa has fast food and several very nice cafes. For a good set down meal try Lisa's Front Porch. There is a Super 8 in Louisa that is near the restaurants.

Rode this route 4 or 5 times in preparation for a group charity ride we were hosting. Has gas stops in Morehead, Paintsville, and a few in between. We made a loop out of it, returning back around Cave Run Lake. It was a great longer ride for the group. Several very tight curves, and overall nice scenery.

Started in Louisa, grabbed some breakfast at Hardees and rode west. Fantastic ride!!! Pavement is great! I notice a little bit a gravel in a turn or two, did notice a few places where a heavy rain may wash some out on the road, If I recall one was a construction site, new house or something. We had open road prolly 80% of the time. Simply awesome! We'll be back just to ride this again!

An amazing ride. Fast sweeping curves, mountain twisties, beautiful scenery. Plenty of gas stops but not a lot else as far as amenities. Some big coal trucks but there are spots to get around them, otherwise not too much traffic on a Saturday.
