Written Directions

The route begins just north of Fish Eating Creek (7.5 miles north of SR29) on the west side of US27. Take Detjens Dairy Road west/north to CR731. Then west 2.5 miles to Old SR8. Then north to SR70. Then west (turn left) for 300 feet and turn right just before the railroad track and continue north on Old SR8 to US27. Total 22 miles

Scenery

The scenery is nice with cattle ranches and orange groves. What makes this ride nice is NO traffic and a twisty road.

Drive Enjoyment

The pavement is in good condition with some sections recently paved. Lots of curves (for Florida) and roller coaster type hills on the northerly sections.

Tourism Opportunities

One public area Platt Ranch and a public wildlife research center, Archbold (on west side of SR8)

We rode this route on 01/19/19 and enjoyed it very much. We found it very difficult to locate on the map but once we did we were able to follow it. We are from Fort Lauderdale so we enjoyed seeing the farms, cows and cool homes and of course the open roads. Towards the end (North end) we were surprised with a lovely view of the lake on our left side. We also enjoyed the little roller coaster hills towards the end.

Add Fl 731 (Tasmania Rd) to this route for more back road experience rather than jumping on US 27 at the end if coming from the north. Depending on your time and route of course.
