Written Directions

Coming from the south, the road starts just a few miles NE of Hastings Fl off SR-207. Coming from the north, take I-295 to the SR-13 exit in Jacksonville. Its a busy 6 lane highway here but when it crosses over the Duval-St Johns County line it begins to narrow to 4 lanes and then eventually to a two lane country road.

Scenery

Heading north or south along SR-13 the St Johns River is often in plain site. There are numerous small communities as well with several parks. Lots of live Oaks and other shady trees make this a great ride.

Drive Enjoyment

There are not a lot of twisties although the road, for the most part, follows the river. Nicely paved..not many rough spots or potholes.

Tourism Opportunities

Only a couple of restaurants and a couple local stores on the road. Several small parks. View our Instagram stories on Stories ig - anonymous IG story viewer

Nice ride from SR16 to SR207. No traffic on a Sat afternoon. 45-55mph with several miles bordering the St. John's river.

While not long, this is one of, if not the most, scenic rides in North Florida as it winds along the St Johns River South of Jacksonville. Lots of big old Live Oak trees over hanging the road with Spanish moss hanging down, gives one the flavor of the old south. The views of the St Johns River, often only a few feet away are spectacular.

We thoroughly enjoyed this very scenic ride! We continued our ride from Pulatka to St. Augustine and then up the A1A coast. Beautiful scenic ride. We left around 7:30am and completed the ride around 11:30. Although we stopped for lunch at the Blue Water Island Grill in Jacksonville Beach. We are new to Jacksonville and weren't really sure where to start out ride. Thanks so much for this suggestion.
